Keep the
conversation going
Your questions won't end after the first appointment with your GP. Here's where you can keep learning, and how you can keep the conversation going.
Keep learning from sources you can trust
There’s a lot of information about menopause readily available online, but some of it is wrong or trying to sell you something. When you are searching, make sure you’re reading government health sites, recognised women’s organisations, and reputable health sites. These are the safest places to start.
Here are some good resources to broaden your knowledge:
The Australian Government’s perimenopause and menopause sites, with real stories and information in a range of languages.
The NSW Government’s Perimenopause and Menopause Toolkit, which includes checklists and helpful resources.
Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, which provides information and support on women’s health, including an option to sign up for regular women’s health tips.
The Australasian Menopause Society resource hub, which contains fact sheets and videos.
Keep checking in with yourself
Your experience will likely change over time. Your hormones will fluctuate, and your symptoms might come and go. Every few months, it’s worth taking a moment to look over your historical symptoms.
If something new comes up, or an existing symptom bothers you more, book in another chat with your GP.
Keep talking
If this hub helped you, it might help a friend too. Keep the conversation alive, share your knowledge, and let us work toward a world where we can have stigma-free conversations around women’s health.
